Phil Hansen serves as President of Global Minnesota. Over his 30 plus year career, Phil has become known for innovative practices in board development, strategic planning, teamwork, leadership development, revenue generation, and building lasting relationships.

The majority of Phil’s career has been with the Red Cross where he served in executive roles in Wisconsin, Massachusetts, and Minnesota. In 2004, Phil was appointed the Red Cross Northeast Area Chief Executive where he oversaw 140 chapters in the Northeastern U.S., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. At the Red Cross, Phil led efforts to deliver a variety of emergency relief services and supported a range of international services including family reunification, humanitarian law programs, resiliency education, immunization programs, and fundraising to support global emergencies. Phil was frequently deployed to help with recovery efforts for major disasters serving a variety of leadership roles.

Phil holds a B.S. in Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and a Master’s in Nonprofit Management from Hamline University. Phil was recognized in 2008 as the Disaster Fundraiser of the Year and in 2013 with the Red Cross Presidential Award for Employee Excellence. In 2020, Phil was honored as the Hamline School of Business Alumni of the Year.

Phil is a terrible guitar player (but that doesn’t stop him) and he enjoys hiking, walking his dog, cooking and traveling, most recently to Norway. He and his wife Linda, a metalsmith and jewelry designer, live in St. Paul with their wonderful dog Charlie.
